Committees & Commissions

The City Council values citizen engagement and has established several advisory committees to provide opportunities for participation. Members of these volunteer committees influence the policies and actions of local government and serve as ambassadors for the City.

Applications to serve on City committees are accepted annually in the fall. Committee members serve three year terms. We currently have a vacancy on the Arts and Culture Committee and will be accepting applications through Friday, October 25. Click here to apply.

Arts and Culture Committee

The purpose of the Arts and Culture Committee (ACC) is to serve as a liaison between City government and the art and culture organizations in the community as well as make recommendations to the EDA related to arts and cultural events, installations and initiatives as assigned.

The ACC meets on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Community Engagement Committee

The purpose of the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) is to educate residents about city government and to provide feedback to city leaders on a variety of city issues and projects.

The CEC meets on the third Thursday of the month.

Economic Development Authority

The Economic Development Authority (EDA), a statutory committee, promotes the development and redevelopment of retail, commercial, and industrial properties in Prior Lake to diversify the city's tax base.

The EDA meets the second Monday of the month.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission advises the City Council on issues involving the establishment and enactment of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, zoning, subdivisions, and sign ordinances.

The Planning Commission meets April - October on the second and fourth Monday of the month and
meets November - March on the second Monday of the month. Streamed videos of the meetings are available on Prior Lake Government Access Television.
